There are plenty of listings on yahoo auctions offering odometer resets, even with maintenance history and export certificates you can never be completely sure.

These higher km FD's are an obvious money maker for the shifty car yards as they drop heavily in value as they approach 100,000km's in Japan. With a km reset they must go close to doubling their money by the time it leaves the yard here.

106km's for a 12 year old car is far from bad.

I can certainly vouch the km on my car as i have a Bayside Automotive Lewis new crate engine , However as a once wise Gomez and others have said if you are going to buy a FD always have $10-15,000 Handy just in case .

Spirit R s are hard to find for sale ......... especially in Black so stick to your price of $35,000

I bought my FD from IMG in Sydney years ago.
I think they call themselves Road and Track now.
Has anyone heard anything bad about them??

Finances fallen through. How people can go through the trials and tribulations of getting cars inspected, phone calls backwards and forwards to the seller etc all without actually having any money is beyond me. Wasting everyone's time including their own.

I hate selling cars.

Back on the market. For anyone interested, I have dropped my asking price by almost 10k in light of the mileage. This will more than cover a rebuild, even though the car doesn't need one.

It is listed now at 29k. This includes all original parts as well as the brand new PFC, RAM intake, etc. Any questions please pm me.

Hard to get finance for a 12 year old car , so unless you have cash you should not contemplate buying IMHO .

This is bordering on a bargain buy even at these KM , hang in there someone will see it as a bargain , ....if only we did not have 6 cars in the family

Sell your bolt on mods separately. People are always looking for those parts.

29 is too cheap in my opinion. The cost of Financing the import and covering the risk of importing has to make the previously registered complied car worth at least 20% more than what can be found in Japan, not to mention they are getting thin on the ground.

Hi Folks,
I was the person who was interested in the car and got the JOC done on Steve's advice.

Its a shame because Jamie seems like a nice guy and genuinely didnt know as far as I could tell.

The only things that were red flags to me that there was something dodgy regarding the importer was that the car was a 32,000 k car with no service history and as Jamie posted in a thread here that it needed a rear main seal done which to me says that it had done more k's than the odometer showed, also a few other small things.

The $70 I spent on that JOC was the best money I have ever spent because I was ready to put down a deposit today ( I was just waiting until when I received the JOC last night to move ahead ) and have a pre purchase inspection done and hopefully pick it up this week.

I really wanted a spirit r, preferably in red but I was happy to settle on a black one and Jamie's one would have been perfect but there is that saying if something seems to good to be true it usually is.

I do have to give it to Jamie though, as soon as I sent the JOC to him last night he removed the car from carsales and has updated everybody here.

Regarding the value, This one went through the auctions recently, although white its a type A with 74000 ks for $28500 landed and complied if that helps,

so if I stick with going for a spirit r I will just import one for that kind of price.

Once had a punter make an offer on a car (which I accepted). Then after that, he asked me to:

- drive him to the bank for a loan; and
- give the bank a character reference (lol)

I refused, and presumably he made his own way to the bank and got refused, because later he:

- offered to pay me $50 a week for the car

29k you'd almost just keep it wouldn't ya? take away the mods, whats left... 25-26k? for a FD with all the bells and whistles BUT you have your reasons, all the best.
